Daily inspection of the car

Before you start the car, you should perform a daily check. This is a requirement in traffic training and a common topic on the theory test. A quick check only takes a few minutes but can prevent dangerous situations.

Checklist Before Driving

Around the Car

Walk around the car and look for visible damage, leaks under the car, and that all lights work. Check that the license plates are clean and readable.

In the Driver’s Seat

• Adjust steering wheel and seating position so you can reach the pedals and steering wheel comfortably.
• Check that the mirrors provide a good view, and be aware of blind spots .
• Check instrument panel and warning lights when starting the engine.

When Extra Checks Are Important

• Before long trips and holidays
• After the car has been standing for a long time
• During temperature changes and winter driving
• When using a trailer

The car must also go through EU inspection at fixed intervals, but the daily check is your responsibility as the driver.
