In Norway, there are several driver’s license categories that grant the right to drive different types of vehicles. Here is a complete overview.
Motorcycle and moped

| A1 | Light motorcycle up to 125 cc / 11 kW | 16 years |
| A2 | Motorcycle up to 35 kW | 18 years |
| A | Heavy motorcycle without power restriction | 24 years (direct) or 20 years (progressive) |
Passenger car

| B code 96 | B + trailer, combined weight up to 4250 kg | 18 years |
| BE | B + trailer with total weight over 750 kg (combined over 3500 kg) | 18 years |

Truck

Additional rights with class B
With class B you can also drive:
- Moped (category AM)
- Tractor (class T) at age 16 with a B license
- Snowmobile and ATV with B license
- Light trailer up to 750 kg total weight
Probation period
The first two years after passing the driving test are a probation period. During this period, the limit for points on the driver’s license is lower.
