Practice with practical examples
Practical example exercises from the theory test with explanation, so that you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer.
The best way to prepare for the theory test is to practice with realistic tasks. Here we look at typical question types with an explanation of how to think of the right answer.
Example 1 -
- Giving way at intersections
Situation: You come to an intersection without a sign. A car is coming from the right.
Question: Who has the duty to give way?
Answer: You have a duty to give way. Without signs or other regulations, the right-hand rule applies – you must give way to traffic from the right.
Thought process: First check if there are signs, then road markings. No regulation means that the right-hand rule applies. Read more about give way and cross .
Example 2 -
- Calculation of stopping distance
Situation: You drive for 60 km/h on dry roads.
Q:** What is the stopping distance?
| Calculation | Formula | Results |
|---|---|---|
| Reaction Length | 60 × 3 ÷ 10 | 18 m |
| Braking distance | (60 ÷ 10)² | 36 m |
| Stopping Distance | 18 + 36 | 54 m |
Remember that braking distance increases square with speed. On wet roads, the braking distance doubles.
Example 3 -
- Sign recognition
Q:** What does a round sign with a red border and the number 50 mean?
Answer: Speed limit 50 km/h. There is a prohibition sign that prohibits driving above the specified speed.
Tip: The shape of the sign tells you the category. Use sign memorization techniques(/bil/huske-teknikker-for-skilt/ “Husketeknikker for skilt”) to learn them faster.
Example 4 -
- First aid
Situation: You are first on the scene of a traffic accident. One person lies unconscious but breathing.
Question: What do you do?
Answer: Place the person in stable side position and call 113.
Order in case of accident:
- Secure the accident site
- Provide life-saving first aid
- Call the emergency number 113
- Keep monitoring the injured person
How to use practice exercises effectively
- Simulate the test – set a time limit and work your way through all the tasks without checking answers along the way
- Analyze the errors – write down what you answered incorrectly and why
- Repeat weak topics – use the summaries for quick review
- Practice with time management to get comfortable with the time frame
