What is the hunter’s exam?
The hunter’s exam is a mandatory test that everyone must pass to be registered as a hunter in the Hunter Register and be allowed to hunt in Norway. The exam ensures that prospective hunters have the necessary knowledge about safety, laws, and wildlife management.
Age requirements
You must be at least 16 years old by the start of the hunting year (April 1) to take the hunter’s exam. There is no upper age limit.
Mandatory course
Before you can take the exam, you must complete a mandatory hunter course of at least 30 hours. The course covers:

After Passing the Test
Once you have passed, you are automatically registered in the Hunter Register. You must then pay the hunting fee every year you wish to hunt.
