Moped driver's license class AM
Overview of the requirements for a class AM moped license, from age limit to mandatory training and test.
What is Class AM?
Driver’s license Class AM gives you the right to drive a moped with a maximum design speed of 45 km/h and an engine capacity of up to 50 cm3. The class also covers light quadricycles (moped car) with corresponding limitations.
Age Requirement
You must be 16 years old to obtain a moped driver’s license. You can start the mandatory training earlier, but the actual driving test can be taken no earlier than the day you turn 16.

The moped course in practice
The course consists of a theory part and a practical part. The theory part covers traffic rules, signs, and risk awareness. The practical part gives you experience driving in real traffic under supervision.
After completing the course, the driving school will register you for the theory test with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The test is electronic and consists of multiple-choice questions. You can practice with free theory test to get familiar with the format.
After passing the test
Once you have passed both the theory test and the practical test, the driving license will be issued. The moped license is valid throughout the EEA area, allowing you to also drive a moped on vacation in Europe.
